specialised technologies

In conjunction with Arburg, Comtec IPE offers the specialised process of hot-melt injection moulding. The low viscosity and virtually pressure-less over-moulding enables the watertight encapsulation of sensitive electronics, even without a housing. Hotmelt is not a plastic, but rather an environmentally friendly adhesive with excellent material properties: • Excellent adhesion • Electric insulation • Temperature resistant from -40 to +130°C • Resistant to petrol, oils, acids or alkaline substances • Highly flame retardant • UV and ageing resistant • Suitable for dyeing. Injection moulding offers several significant advantages in comparison with other processes, such as two-component casting or hotmelt moulding:  • Short process times and high productivity • Injection moulding machines are not just restricted to hotmelt processing • Material preparation according to the first-in, first-out principle • Customised quality control • Cost-effective aluminium moulds.
